Starlink debut in India | Powered by "Elon Musk"
The enigma has set his sights firmly in India. Elon Musk is all set to launch Starlink, a broadband service equipped by SpaceX intelligence.
Starlink has been providing uninterrupted internet access for areas of the globe where connectivity has typically been a challenge. As it is unbounded by our traditional ground infrastructure, Starlink holds the capability to deliver high-speed broadband internet to locations where access has been unreliable or completely unavailable.
Starlink Satellite internet would reach India by the end of 2021 or early 2022, though the exact timeframe has not been shared. Pre-orders cover major cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and more. There is no information available on the exact coverage details, and users would need to check whether the area where you stay is covered at the moment.
How to pre-book Starlink satellite internet service
The process of Pre-booking Starlink is honestly simple. The users need to head to the Starlink official website, where on the homepage, the option to order your connection would be available. Users are requested to key in their PIN code, and once they find their area, click on ‘Order Now’. You will then be redirected to another page where you would have to fill in your details and pay the deposit amount before the timer runs out. If this is not done in the time provided, Starlink would abort the ordering process and redirect you to the homepage again.
How much will Starlink cost per month?
The users are required to pay a deposit fee of $99, which would be about Rs 7,300 towards the Starlink equipment that the users will receive install to get the internet connection. At the moment, Starlink is in the beta stage. This means the connections are limited and you can drop your info to avail the services now and they will be as soon as your area receives satellite support and your token is up. Once the user has made the payment, their priority access in their location gets reserved. The amount paid is fully refundable if in case you wish to retract your booking. As of right now, only Debit and Credit cards can be used to make this payment.
For the Starlink project support, SpaceX has already launched over 1,000 satellites. Currently, Starlink provides an internet speed ranging between 50 Mbps and 150 Mbps, with an approximate latency between 20 ms – 40 ms. As per Elon Musk, in 2021, the speed is estimated to be doubled to reach 300 Mbps, with the latency being reduced to 20 ms. The ultimate goal of Starlink is to have a 12,000-satellite network that would provide a speed of 1 Gbps across the planet shortly.
Starlink is a revolutionary project because it aims to provide high-speed internet not only in urban areas where current broadband services are well equipped but also in rural and remote areas where broadband services usually fail to live up to the promised stats.
